...a community-owned and governed utility, created to provide safe, reliable and cost-based electric and wholesale telecommunication services...
Don't take chances with your safety around power lines, high-voltage equipment, or other facilities maintained by Mason County PUD No. 3. If you notice any safety issues, contact PUD 3 at 360-426-8255 (Shelton), 360-275-2833 (Belfair), 360-861-4247 (Elma) or 911.
Please report any fallen power line by calling the PUD or 911.
NEVER touch fallen lines or anything under them. All power lines should be treated with extreme caution. Always assume electric wires are energized.
You may assist the PUD by keeping others clear of the fallen lines until the work crews arrive.
Use caution when using long-handled equipment, tall ladders, installing television antennas, flying kites or practicing fishing rod casting. Always avoid contact with overhead power lines. If you get anything tangled in power lines, call us. We will remove it for you.
Posting signs on wooden utility poles is dangerous and illegal. It could injure utility personnel and cost you money.
So please never attach advertising signs, posters, or any other objects to utility poles. We realize that they are convenient for many purposes, but the nails and tacks pose risks to the linemen who must climb the poles. Nails can also do damage by encouraging decay, resulting in a shortened life for the pole. Pole replacements are one of the maintenance items that are paid for by your electric rates.
The high voltage equipment in substations is very dangerous. For this reason substations are fenced and gates are locked to prevent entry. Please advise your children and other family members of the danger. In the event a ball or other toy becomes "trapped" in a substation, call the PUD at 426-8255 (Shelton), 275-2833 (Belfair), or 861-4247 (Elma). In all cases we will retrieve it for you as soon as possible.
