LIGHTING

One of the best ways to reduce a business’ electric bill and increase efficiency is to update the building’s lighting. T8 fluorescent lighting has shown to reduce lighting consumption by up to 50% over existing T12 lighting systems. Read more about T8 lights here. LED and induction lighting solutions are increasing in efficiency and coming down in cost, too.
It can take several months to find the right lighting contractor; determine which solution is right for the business, receive an estimate from the contractor, have all the work done, and process the incentives for the work, so don’t delay- contact a PUD 3 conservation technician for a FREE commercial lighting audit today. They will make recommendations and help walk through the commercial lighting upgrade process. New construction commercial lighting incentives are also available. All lighting projects must be pre-approved before existing lighting is removed and before new equipment is ordered. PUD 3 has a project progress checklist available for customer use.

GREEN MOTOR REWIND PROGRAM

When a motor fails, the user or owner may take it in for a rewind. If the rewind results in the motor maintaining its original efficiency, it is commonly called a green rewind. In order to participate, take the motor to a certified Green Motors Practice Group member service center. The service center rewinds the motor (providing it can be rewound to its original nominal efficiency) then provides an instant rebate of at least $1 per HP on the invoice. Qualified motors include NEMA standard horsepower-rated motors between 15 and 5000 horsepower. For additional information on green motors visit: www.greenmotors.org
