Applications for employment will generally be accepted only when there is an opening within the PUD and only from individuals who are qualified for open positions. From time-to-time, when it is determined that certain positions are difficult to fill because of a shortage of qualified persons, applications and resumes will be accepted and retained prior to the occurrence of an opening.

SYSTEM ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR: Candidates must be customer focused and have excellent skills in interpersonal relations, written and verbal communications, contract management, and project management. This position is responsible for major system project design and construction, including transmission and substations as well as for voltage control, system protection, long term system planning, and recommendation of material standards. The duties include design and /or supervise the design, prepare cost estimates, specifications, contracts for distribution system projects as needed, and supervise system engineering personnel. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a minimum of five years’ experience in the system engineering area of an electric utility. A professional license is desired.

FLAGGER: Part-time, on-call positions within the utility are available from time-to-time when additions or replacements to the flagging pool are needed. Applicants must be willing to work on an on-call basis, maintain a current flagging card issued by the state of Washington, maintain a current CPR/First Aid card and perform all flagging duties required to maintain a safe and efficient work area for PUD crews.
JOURNEYMAN LINEMEN: NO CURRENT OPENING, however Applications and resumes for this position are accepted and retained regardless, as the position may be difficult to fill. All applicants must hold a journeyman lineman’s card, be able to pass a physical examination, a written technical knowledge examination and a practical test, possess or be able to obtain a Washington state class “A” commercial driver’s license in order to operate utility trucks and have a good driving record. Successful applicants must be willing to live within 30 minutes of operations headquarters and be available for after-hours call out. STUDENT TRAINEE: Part-time positions within the utility are available from time-to-time for full-time high school or college students. Position duties range from clerical to laborer. The student employment program at the PUD is designed to afford practical experience in the workplace, encourage continuing education and to assist with educational expenses.
