Mason County PUD No. 3 is a publicly owned utility serving nearly 30,000 customers.
Its service area covers 567 square miles, most of which is in Mason County. Electric
service is also provided to small areas of south Kitsap, east Grays Harbor, and
southwest Pierce Counties.
Mason County is located in western Washington at the southwest end of Puget Sound. It
is bordered to the north by Jefferson County, to the west and southwest by Grays Harbor
County, and to the southeast by Thurston County. The county’s eastern boundary - shared
with Kitsap, Pierce and Thurston counties - is primarily delineated by the rugged
contours of Hood Canal and Case Inlet. Mason County is comprised of a total land mass of
961 square miles. The county ranks 29th in size among Washington counties.
The PUD 3 fiber optic network currently serves the core areas of Allyn, Belfair and Shelton.
